Frequently Asked Questions

Most assessments can be completed in 4 to 6 hours, though the exact time depends on your facility’s size, complexity, and operations. Larger or more complex sites may require multiple days to ensure every area is thoroughly evaluated.

The Fire Risk Score is based on a range of factors, including the facilities policies, hazards, fire protection systems, fire department access, and safety practices observed during the assessment. While no system is perfect, it provides a consistent metric you can use to track progress and measure improvements over time.

Every state and local municipality may adopt a different version of fire codes and standards. At IC Fire Prevention, we reference the latest available code set, since it reflects the most current safety research and best practices. This ensures our recommendations align with the safest industry standards, even if local codes have not yet caught up.

A six-month follow-up creates a clear deadline for addressing the issues found in the initial assessment. Without a defined timeline, fire safety improvements often get pushed aside by day-to-day operations. This visit ensures progress stays on track and builds accountability into the process.

Once your facility consistently achieves a Low-Moderate to Low Fire Risk Score, we can transition to less frequent inspections. Maintaining that score over multiple visits shows that safety practices are well established and sustainable. However, fire safety is not a “set it and forget it” process — it requires ongoing attention to keep risks low.
