ABOUT IC FIRE PREVENTION

Keeping People and Workplaces Safe

Founded in 2015, ICFP’s mission is to reduce the risk of injury and property loss through fire prevention assessments, employee education, and training. Our program challenges workers and managers to see their workplace through the eyes of an experienced firefighter — understanding how risky behaviors and unsafe conditions can lead to serious consequences. This perspective motivates people to take ownership of safety, protecting both their workplace and their home environments.

As an operations supervisor in the fire service, it was critical for Chief Kunze to identify high-risk occupancies in his response territory.  Leveraging this expertise he now dedicates himself to fire prevention. Since founding IC Fire Prevention in 2015, he has conducted thousands of assessments at recycled material facilities, delivering actionable safety recommendations that significantly reduce fire risks for employees, customers, and emergency responders. In collaboration with the Recycled Materials Association (ReMA), he provides industry-specific training and solutions-based fire safety initiatives, helping facilities proactively address deficiencies and foster a culture of fire prevention.

A state-certified trainer for over three decades, Andy has taught nationally and internationally, earning the State of Michigan Fire Instructor of the Year award in 2015. He shares his expertise as an adjunct professor at Eastern Michigan University and Oakland Community College.

As co-owner of B&B Live Fire Training, LLC, Andy delivers advanced programs in critical decision-making and thermal imaging dynamics — helping fire departments enhance safety, sharpen tactical performance, and ensure their members return home safely.
